Yesterday was the Chamber of Commerce business fair in Gold Canyon. It was the first time Cactus Clean AZ has attended such an even of that kind...or really any kind!
It was both exciting and intimidating to set up my little table with my pamphlets, business cards, little magnetic clips and scrubbies... I hadn't planned on what to say ahead of time when someone stopped by my table for more information The first few people got a very messy sounding pitch! Thank goodness they seemed to understand I was a bit out of my element at that moment!
About 30 minutes into the day, I finally got a feeling for what I wanted to pitch, how I would sell myself and my business. My son was with me the whole day helping me out and being a great candy distributor!
I met some absolutely sweet people that took my information with great enthusiasm after a ton of questions, I had some that really just wanted my rolos (can't blame you!) and some that really just wanted their little card signed off for the raffle drawing (also can't blame you!)
I started CCAZ as something I was doing in addition to my corporate job. I had just been helping out my mom with some of the 55+ communities in our area, and I found myself almost obsessing over the best way to clean things.
To clean smarter, not harder.
I honestly had no idea how many people had a desire for some help with cleaning several years ago when I started helping my mom. I know how much it helped me out when someone came and did mine - it wasn't just a luxury. It helped me spend time with my son, it helped me give me some of my time back to me. I realized that this is what it is for a lot of people.
One of my mom's clients said that a few of her friends had called her "hoity toity" for having a cleaning person come weekly...she corrected them immediately!
She told the whole group of ladies she was with that it helped her spend time with her husband prior to him passing away rather quickly and unexpectedly. It helped her get up some of the dust, etc that she didn't see as well anymore. And it helped her feel less stress and able to focus more on just living.
I think my own experience and the experiences of so many of my clients that are moms/dads, on vacation, winter visitors, not moving around as well as they used to, single folks that work a ton and just feel overwhelmed, stay at home moms/dads that do it all and would just love some time returned to them. The list really does go on.
It's no longer about being wealthy. And it's certainly not about being lazy (although, I know sometimes it has been for me!).
It's about people realizing that they deserve some of their time back. The services are offered for a reason
I can honestly say that there is not much more rewarding than a mom of four kiddos telling me how much she appreciates what I do for her and how amazing her home feels when I am finished. That she feels like she can keep up with it a bit more and not feel so overwhelmed.
So if you are considering a cleaning service, please don't feel guilty! Feel like you deserve some help now and then. Heck, just realize you are supporting a small business and I really do do a happy dance whenever I get a new client!
Thanks for listening to my Sunday night ramblings! I hope your Monday and your week is awesome!
I cannot even begin to comprehend the amount of people that have had the flu here in AZ so far. I heard on the radio that it is up by 700%! Nobody is safe!
Thinking of the germs that are floating around everywhere we go, I started keeping more tissues and disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer with me for my son and I. But that got me wondering what I can do at home to help keep it a little less germy (we have had strep, the flu and sinusitis so far this YEAR! Oh 2018, how you exhaust me!) and maybe prevent even more germs from invading our home!
For some of us with allergies or sensitive noses (or a variety of other reasons), using straight bleach, etc is just too strong. That's how it is for me too.
For my house, I have started ripping apart the bedding and washing on super high heat...That was the place most time is spent when sick, so I imagine all these little nasty germs just living on my favorite blankets!
I use Odoban in my own home as well as my clients - it smells great and gets things clean on the floor - great for mopping!
I swear by Method cleaning products, and they have a great anti-bacterial line that works wonders for countertops, bathrooms, desks, tables, and all other hard surfaces that hands, bodies or food touch.
I do still feel safer when I spray straight Lysol on door handles, toilet seats and kitchen chairs. I know some people love using vinegar water mix for antibacterial purposes as well to keep the chemicals down.
Some of the places that definitely need a good cleaning REGULARLY are keyboards, mouses, cell phones, purses and wallets, pens, desk phones, light switches, drawer handles...places our hands touch and we don't think twice about touching our faces after.
And with all of these sicknesses, if you or your child or spouse are sick...stay home! There are so many babies and immune compromised and elderly people that have an awful time with sickness...and it can be deadly for them...that we need to do our part to keep our germs home. It's hard for us that need to work - I get that. So if YOU MUST go out, remember to keep your hands washed and disinfected, mouth covered when sneezing, coughing, and disposing of tissues from your nose and washing your hands right after.
This season has been rough! Every little thing we do to prevent spreading more germs will benefit not only us, but those around us that we pass by everyday.
Stupid flu and sickness!
